Wyening Mission Farm is a family business operating near Calingiri in the West Australian wheatbelt.
About the Role:
This is a full-time, permanent position for an experienced machinery operator and mixed crop farmer. This position is responsible for the implementation of the spraying program for crop production and other farming activities. It also includes general machinery operation and maintenance, and responsibilities as shift co-ordinator during busy periods of seeding and harvest.
Your primary responsibilities will involve but not limited to:
· Carry out spraying program and liaise with Agronomist on seeding, fertilising, harvesting and other matters to ensure the maximum yields are achieved from crops
· Make paddock observations regarding nutrition, disease, weed and insects that may impact production
· Ensure accurate rates and effective spraying conditions are adhered to
· Follow chemical handling protocols and keep up to do with regulations and procedures
· Identify and carry out urgent repairs to ensure plant remains in working order
· Operate machinery as needed
· Complete maintenance, repairs and other tasks in the workshop whilst maintaining a safe and organised workspace
· Act as the shift co-ordinator during busy periods of seeding and harvest
· Undertake other farming activities such as fencing, weed control, construction and building maintenance
· Adopt and demonstrate the safety policies and procedures of the business
· Encourage other team members to follow the safety policies and procedures
· Manage hazards and risks as they arise by assessing the risks and changing methods or workplan to suit
