Key Engineering Role
We are seeking a highly skilled senior electrical primary design engineer to spearhead our engineering team based in Newcastle. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality, safe, and commercially effective engineering designs for large-scale wind farms and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects.
About the Position
* Develop and review detailed primary design concepts for large-scale HV infrastructure projects, including single-line diagrams, substation arrangements, cable reticulation design, load flow and fault studies, insulation coordination, transient analysis, earthing and lightning protection design
* Prepare and evaluate technical specifications for electrical equipment, ensuring compliance with relevant standards AS/IEC and coordinating with suppliers and subcontractors
* Provide technical leadership and support to the engineering and project teams, including engineering investigations, site inspections, solving problems and making recommendations
Key Skills and Qualifications
* Proven experience in 66k V-330k V substation design and/or utility grid connections, including a strong working knowledge of Australian Standards (e.g., AS 2067, AS/NZS 3000, AS 1768, ENA Guidelines) and thorough attention to detail
* Proficient in using software modeling tools (e.g., CYMCAP, Power Factory, PSCAD, CDEGS, Power Cad)
* Australian recognized Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) or equivalent
* Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status with Engineers Australia (or eligible to obtain on commencement)
