About the Opportunity
We are looking for a detail‐driven, analytical and collaborative Forward Planner to join our Multi‐Class Services Planning team and help deliver world‐class planning outcomes for the Submarine Enterprise.
As a Forward Planner, you will support the safe, efficient and accurate planning of Maintenance Activity Work Packages (MAWPs) across full cycle dockings, in‐service periods and other submarine maintenance commitments.
Key to this role is an exceptional attention to detail, ability to interrogate and align large datasets, and a commitment to producing consistent, high‐quality planning outputs.
You will work closely with internal project teams and external stakeholders such as Naval Ship Building and Sustainment Group, Raytheon, Thales etc to ensure maintenance planning data, work packages and technical information are accurate, aligned and delivered on time.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Forward Planning Team Lead, you are required to assist with generating, building and validating submarine maintenance activity work packages in SIMS (Ships Information Management System) and the ASC Corporate MRP System iaw the requirements of CoA Advanced Planning Letters and ASC Corporate Procedures, while adhering to the key milestones of the Collins Class Submarine Maintenance Program.
Expectations of the role include, but are not limited to:
* Ensure all Work Package Planning services are delivered in accordance with the E2E process / milestone dates (or better) and are provided in a format required by downstream customers.
* Assist with developing consistent and repeatable work packages iaw CCSM program requirements and provide the MAWPs to Work Package Planners in an accurate and mature state.
* Assist with ensuring the SIMS Total Work Packages are compiled iaw the ILS maintenance requirements, have rectification work scope for repairs / concessions and have the required design upgrade / change scope for Configuration Change Proposals (CCPs).
* Maintain the standard of the corporate Maintenance Activity Work Packages (MAWPs) with accurate material demands, operation structures and estimates.
* Interrogation of the SIMS Registered Maintenance Item (RMI) tables to ensure certified components are either in date or require re-certification.
* Raise SIMS MRR Amendment Proposals (MAPs) from production feedback forms.
* Continuous improvement and adherence to the Submarine Planning Corporate Management System processes, internal work instructions and other processes required by the Project Management Plan.
About you
* Trade Certificate and / or Tertiary Qualification in Engineering / Business is desirable but not essential.
* Demonstrated competence and experience in a Planning role with a focus on work package generation or execution (preferably in a Defence environment).
* Configuration Management experience is highly regarded.
* Strong capability with Microsoft Excel.
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills across multiple levels - both written and verbal.
* Ability to set priorities and achieve deadlines within a fast‐paced environment.
* High level problem solving and decision making skills
This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance and International Traffic in Arms Regulations.
