Education Assistant - Special Needs, Broome Senior High School, Broome, WA. This pool will cover permanent and fixed-term, full-time and part-time vacancies that may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role
Suitable applicants will, under teacher direction, assist in the implementation of specialised education programs such as occupational therapy, speech therapy and physiotherapy programs. Education Assistants - Special Needs support teachers in delivering planned education programs, operate computers and digital technologies, and implement individual student or small group programs. They may provide feedback on education and therapy programs and participate in evaluation relating to the achievement of goals in special education. They will assist in addressing communication difficulties between students and teachers or therapists.
Essential attributes include good interpersonal and communication skills, strong organisational ability, flexibility in a dynamic environment, and a genuine interest in supporting students with educational needs and pastoral care. The role requires caring, proactive and responsive collaboration with colleagues to implement school priorities and programs. Experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or Down Syndrome is highly regarded.
Eligibility and Requirements

* be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have valid visa work rights for the term of the appointment
* obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start
* consent to a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start
