About the role
South West Healthcare (SWH) is seeking an experienced and capable Registered Nurse to become our Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) in the Medical / Palliative Care Unit on a fixed-term parental leave contract.
This role offers leadership in a high-performing, well-supported team, focusing on clinical excellence, staff development, and service improvement. As NUM, you will provide strong, visible leadership to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality care. You will collaborate with senior leaders to align the unit with organizational goals and shape its strategic direction during this fixed-term period.
Position Overview
* Fixed Term Parental Leave : from 28 July 2025 to 26 June 2026
* Hours : 72 hours per fortnight
* Classification : Nurse Unit Manager
* Salary Range : $127,722.40 - $137,035.60 pro rata, plus superannuation
What you bring
To succeed, you should meet the key requirements outlined in the position description, including :
* Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
* Minimum 5 years' nursing experience, including people management
* Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
* Experience with workforce planning, recruitment, and performance management
* Ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders
* Understanding of clinical systems, safe patient care, and regulatory standards
* Capacity to manage staff and resources to meet service demands
* Tertiary qualifications in management or working towards one
