Legal Counsel Position
A leading medical defence organisation is seeking an experienced legal professional to join its team as a Legal Counsel.
This fixed-term contract opportunity offers a chance to work in a dynamic and supportive environment with a hybrid working arrangement.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure legal compliance in the review of marketing material.
* Provide corporate legal, commercial and governance advice across multiple businesses.
* Draft, review and negotiate contracts.
* Offer insurance product advice and documentation expertise.
* Provide statutory interpretation and advice on legislative reform impacting business operations.
* Support corporate litigation teams.
* Offer legal advice on complaints and potential disputes, including those at AFCA.
* Deliver staff legal training sessions.
* Support senior Lawyers, General Counsel & Office of the CEO.
Requirements:
* Tertiary qualifications (LLB or equivalent) are mandatory.
* A current NSW (or other Australian State) Legal Practitioner Practising Certificate is required.
* A minimum 3 years' post-qualification experience in a mid or top-tier firm is necessary.
* Commercial legal advice experience from private practice is essential.
* Previous experience working in an insurance and/or Australian financial services environment is beneficial.
* Highly developed stakeholder and people management skills are crucial.
* Excellent written and spoken language skills are required.
* A strong understanding of the commercial environment of the general insurance market is necessary.
