Front of House Attendant

The Cairns Art Gallery is seeking a Front of House Attendant to support the visitor experience and retail activities in our heritage building. This role requires a self-motivated individual who can work comfortably in a retail environment and perform basic administrative tasks.

Duties:

* Process retail sales and provide excellent customer service
* Perform basic data entry and answer phone calls and emails
* Handle payments and process bookings for paid events
* Cash handling and growing the gallery membership base
* Capturing visitor data and feedback, and promoting current and upcoming exhibitions and events

Availability Requirements:

The gallery is open 7 days a week and there will be a requirement to work some evenings and weekends on a rotating roster.

Requirements:

* Proven customer service skills and strong organizational skills
* Attention to detail for accurate data entry and inventory management
* Experience working with and supervising junior staff
* Experience in point of sale or inventory management system, including accurately managing product data and physical inventory
* Demonstrated experience with stock control and cash handling procedures
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office such as Excel, Word and Outlook
* Excellent interpersonal skills with high level verbal and written communication
* An ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
* Ability to work unsupervised

Our Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for a courteous and friendly individual with excellent communication skills. Experience in retail or hospitality is desirable, as is demonstrated leadership skills and computer literacy. Comfortable working variable hours, including evenings and weekends, with a well-organized approach and an eye for detail.
