**Monash Children's Hospital**

The Monash Children's Hospital provides all tertiary paediatric and neonatal services for Monash Health across three campuses: MCH Clayton, Dandenong and Casey Hospitals. It is one of Australia's largest children's hospitals with 226 beds across three campuses and is Victoria's largest provider of neonatal services. Last year Monash Children's treated 40,000 children in its paediatric and neonatal wards, and 70,000 children attended its emergency departments.

**About Victorian Paediatric Rehabilitation Service**

The Victorian Paediatric Rehabilitation Service (VPRS) is a statewide specialist service that caters to the complex rehabilitation needs of children and adolescents who undergo interventions aimed at functional maximisation after major injury, medical illness, and congenital conditions. VPRS has eight sites: Monash Health, Eastern Health, Bendigo Health, Barwon Health, Ballart Health, Goulbourn Valley Health, Latrobe Regional Hospital and The Royal Children's Hospital. VPRS utilises a child and adolescent-specific interdisciplinary care model according to best practice and will assist in delivering hospital, community
- and home-based services. The service has a key role in providing long-term specialist follow-up clinics and ensuring transition to adult-based services where required.

**About the Department of Paediatric Rehabilitation**

The Department of Paediatric Rehabilitation is a part of the Victorian Paediatric Rehabilitation Service, a statewide service that provides tertiary care to children and adolescents living in the southeast of Melbourne, Gippsland, and the Mornington Peninsula. The service is a large interdisciplinary team that delivers intervention in inpatient or outpatient settings within Monash Children's Hospital. There are regular interdisciplinary paediatric rehabilitation clinics and therapy sessions.

**Job Summary**

**Purpose**

The purpose of this role is to provide leadership for the Department of Paediatric Rehabilitation Medicine in line with MH-wide vision and strategy. The Head of the Department is responsible to the Medical Director of Monash Children's Hospital for the overall leadership, strategic and operational performance of the department and its services, as determined by agreed key performance indicators, and the Chief of Medicine for Quality and Patient Safety related activities. This involves ensuring the department consistently provides the highest quality care, education and research whilst maintaining a sound and sustainable financial position, strong staff engagement and support, as well as effective relationships with the community and consumers of care.

As Head of the Department of Paediatric Rehabilitation MCH, you will collaborate with the Head of the Department of Paediatric Rehabilitation RCH and the State-wide Medical Director and Program Manager on delivering state-wide activities, including research, education and data for reporting to AROC and DOH.

**Core clinical requirements**:

- Daily clinics at the Monash Children's Hospital
- Daily ward rounds when on-call
- Responsibility for the provision of consultant rehabilitation services at Latrobe Regional Hospital

**Professional Development**:

- Regular attendance at rehabilitation journal clubs and scientific meetings
- Conduct evidence-based/best-practice clinical practice

**Work Area**

The appointed Consultant will carry out their clinical duties within Specialist Consulting Areas 1/2 in Monash Children's Hospital, during clinic hours, within a designated consulting room. The appointed Consultant will use clinical and administrative areas within the Monash Children's Hospital for meetings, teaching and other administrative work.
