Medical Specialist - Obstetrician & Gynaecologist
Location: Ballarat. Full‐time fixed term with potential extension to permanent full‐time – 38 hours per week.
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Grampians Health Services provides inpatient and outpatient services for women in Ballarat, Horsham and surrounding regions. Clinics include antenatal care, gestational diabetes, high‐risk pregnancy care, surgical gynaecology, colposcopy, and family planning. The service at Ballarat births approximately 1500 women annually and performs about 300 gynaecological operations per year.
Responsibilities
* Operate surgeries per weekly timetable for obstetrics and gynaecology patients on the waiting list, including complex caesareans.
* Participate in birth suite consultant cover, maternity antenatal clinic, and obstetric on‐call roster as scheduled.
* Supervise and teach junior medical staff in obstetrics and gynaecology.
* Work collaboratively with midwives, general practitioners, paediatricians, anaesthetists, social workers, and other staff involved in patient care.
* Attend on‐call consultant duties day and night as rostered, being on site 07:30‐17:30 and available for phone advice/attendance within 20 minutes when requested by junior staff or midwife.
* Assist with effective bed management and discharge planning for patients across Grampians Health Services.
