Our client is a national business with a strong presence in all major metropolitan areas of Australia. They are currently searching for an experienced Tender Manager (Bid Manager) to work as part of the business development team with direct access to the executive management and Board. The business is experiencing significant growth in its sector and has a long history of delivering large complex contracts for both government and private enterprise.
As the Tender Manager you will thrive in a fast paced, collaborative environment, be a savvy and driven professional, have an ability to gain a full understanding of the scope of a complex tender opportunity, work within a dedicated team to manage, plan and execute the end to end tender process and ensure that the business and its capabilities are showcased to the fullest extent. The right person for this role will have tender/bid experience, a background in a contracting environment and driven to succeed as part of a high performing team. Please note that this is not a sales role and tender/bid experience is essential.
The role
* Be the Tender / Bid leader
* Manage and coordinate the entire tender process, including driving key participants in delivering all information requirements for the tender
* The Tender Manager is responsible for writing a targeted, professional, flowing submission showcasing the businesses key attributes, capabilities and expertise and ensuring that it aligns with all operational and pricing aspects of delivering the scope of works
* Ensure all tender information for inclusion in the submission received from internal stakeholders is written in a professional, flowing format
* Create and maintain a catalogue of standard tender templates which can be customised to suit each individual tender
* Preparation of tender submission correspondence and tender interview as required to contribute to the success of the tender bid.
* Carry out research of tender information
* Liaise and work closely with internal stakeholders such as State and Branch Managers through new and existing contracts.
* Develop strong relationships with branches, operations, internal pricing, legal and customer service, both internally and externally
* Develop an understanding of technical data to ensure the tender submission reflects the operational capabilities of the business
* Liaise with the executive and senior management team to drive successful outcomes
To be Successful
* Proficient in the end to end cycle of the tender / bid process
* Be organised with project management experience an advantage
* Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
* Ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
* Experience in analysing and improving management systems
* Have an understanding commercial risk
* Strategic, collaborative and proactive attitude
* Understanding of commercial pricing analytics - margins, costings, price setting, etc.
* Ability to think laterally
* Minimum 3 year's tender / bid experience in a contracting environment
* Experience in waste management preferable but not essential
* Environmentally aware with a proactive and leading approach to environmental management
