Fender Geophysics is an Australian-owned geophysical services company delivering high-quality mineral exploration and near-surface geophysical surveys across Australia and the broader region. We are seeking an experienced Survey Manager on a casual contract basis to lead and deliver IP, MT, TEM and Gravity surveys.
This is a senior, hands‐on role suited to an experienced geophysical professional who enjoys leading field crews, solving practical challenges on site, and delivering safe, efficient, and technically robust surveys in varied environments.
The Role
As Survey Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day execution of complex geophysical surveys, working closely with Fender's project managers, geophysicists, and field teams.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading and supervising field crews on IP, MT,TEMand Gravity surveys
* Planning and executing surveys in line with project designs and client requirements
* Managing daily field operations, logistics, and productivity
* Ensuring high-quality data acquisition, including first-pass QA/QC
* Driving a strong safety culture through toolbox talks, risk assessments, and compliance
* Acting as the primary field-based link between crews, management, and clients
* Mentoring and supporting crew members and emerging supervisors
* Representing Fender Geophysics professionally on site at all times
About You
You are an experienced field leader with strong technical capability and a proven track record managing geophysical surveys in remote and challenging environments.
You will ideally have:
* A degree in Geophysics, Geoscience, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience)
* A minimum of 5 years' field experience, including leadership or supervisory roles
* Demonstrated experience with IP, MT,TEM and/or Gravity surveys
* Strong understanding of survey workflows, equipment, and data quality requirements
* A safety‐first mindset and proactive approach to risk management
* Excellent problem‐solving skills and the ability to adapt in the field
* Strong communication skills and a professional, client-focused attitude
* Flexibility to work on field-based rosters and travel as required
Projects & Travel
* Projects are primarily located across Australia
* Opportunities to work on projects in the Pacific and South‐East Asian regions
