If so this is an exciting opportunity to provide day to day clinical, operational and professional leadership to the well established therapy team at Ascot House Intermediate Care Unit.
Ascot House is a jointly delivered service with Trafford Council, providing bed based intermediate care to patients requiring a period of rehabilitation, reablement and recovery to facilitate their return to their own home safely and in a timely manner.
Due to maternity leave a unique opportunity has arisen to provide cover to the Senior Practitioner Occupational Therapist role at Ascot House.
The Senior Practitioner OT provides operational, clinical and professional leadership to the physiotherapists, occupational therapists and rehab assistants based at Ascot House.
The role also includes holding a clinical caseload of patients requiring more specialist input and overseeing the teams caseload as a whole helping to maintain a high level flow through the service.
You will be based at Ascot House working collaboratively with the wider MDT which includes doctors, district nurses, carers and social care assessors/workers, to deliver an efficient and effective therapy service.
Main duties of the job To provide operational, clinical and professional leadership to the therapy team at Ascot House. To ensure the safe and effective delivery of the day-to-day therapy team provision. To provide support and guidance to colleagues to assure that work is carried out in a multi-disciplinary way to promote the needs of patients. To carry a caseload appropriate to role in line with banding and professional expertise and to be accountable within their teams for the appropriate allocation of patients. To oversee the flow of patients through the service including managing the screening of referrals, chairing MDT & therapy huddle and providing clinical challenge where appropriate to support timely discharge planning. To support the Clinical Lead for IMC Pathway, to ensure that governance systems and processes are adhered to and delivered within the area of responsibility of the senior practitioner. Person specification Education/Qualifications Qualified to practice as an occupational therapist within the Clinical. Post graduate qualifications and experience to Master's level. Current registration with Health and Care Professions Council. Relevant post graduate training required to underpin clinical practice in the required area that the Senior Practitioner will be required to work. Postgraduate Qualifications relevant to the clinical area of expertise. Management /Leadership Qualification. Experience Proven clinical leadership. Knowledge of relevant governance systems and their influence on current practice. Experience Significant experience at a senior level of clinical practice in the speciality. Evidence of managing a clinical of patients with complex clinical needs. Able to demonstrate clinical practice at a senior level. Evidence of post registration development relevant to the post. Specialist training in relevant area. Experience of undertaking Clinical Audit and Standard setting. Knowledge, skills and abilities Ability to manage own caseload and resources effectively. Ability to review and audit current practice and implement appropriate change. Ability to prioritise workload for self and team. Evidence of development of own skills within the scope of professional practice. Evidence of innovative thoughts and actions. Ability to maintain accurate and contemporaneous records on all systems. Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary partnership including 3rd sector organisations. Work Related Circumstances As this is an essential car user post (community only).
