We stock a large range of vitamins and supplements, along with qualified staff to offer advice to look after your overall health and wellbeing. As our Retail Purchasing Officer, you'll oversee day-to-day store purchasing and inventory operations. You will be maintaining friendly and productive supplier relationships while ensuring our products meet organic standards and company specifications.
This is a full-time opportunity for someone who thrives in a hands-on, community-focused retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Supplier Management: Research, evaluate, and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, focusing on organic certification compliance, quality, reliability, and ethical practices.
* Procurement Operations: Process purchase requisitions, prepare purchase orders (POs), and ensure goods are delivered in a timely and cost-effective manner.
* Inventory Control: Monitor stock levels, track inventory movement, and conduct regular stock takes to avoid overstocking or stockouts.
* Negotiation: Negotiate pricing, contracts, and payment terms to achieve maximum value without compromising quality.
* Compliance & Reporting: Ensure all products meet organic standards and company specifications. Generate reports on purchasing activities, costs, and inventory trends.
* Forecasting: Collaborate with the sales and production teams to forecast demand and optimize purchasing timelines, especially for seasonal or perishable organic items.
* Logistics Coordination: Actively monitor shipping schedules, resolve issues with logistics providers, and handle product recalls if necessary.
Qualifications & Experience
* Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a purchasing, procurement, or inventory control role.
* Previous experience in the food industry, specifically organic foods, natural health products, or health retail is highly desirable.
* Proficiency in Inventory Management Systems (IMS)
* Strong competency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis.
* A diploma or degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or Logistics is an advantage.
