Your next career opportunity

You will lead the professional operations of the Department of Medical Education, driving strategy, governance and services that underpin the Doctor of Medicine (MD) and metropolitan clinical schools. You will partner with academic leaders, clinicians and educators to align resources, people and processes so teaching, research and accreditation requirements are delivered smoothly across multiple sites. You will also shape complex student selection and quality assurance processes, ensuring the MD remains a contemporary, high‐performing program.

Your responsibilities will include

* Provide strategic leadership, planning and governance support to the Head of Department, Executive and clinical school Directors.
* Lead professional staff and operational services across the Department and metropolitan clinical schools, fostering high performance and collaboration.
* Oversee budgeting, financial performance and resource allocation for the Department, MD program and research portfolios.
* Build productive relationships with academics, clinicians, students and external partners to support coordinated education delivery and initiatives.
* Manage accreditation, compliance, risk and quality assurance processes and reporting.

You may be a great fit if you:

* Hold a postgraduate qualification and/or extensive management experience in large, complex higher education or health‐related organisations.
* Bring a strong track record overseeing large budgets and resources for a whole centre, department or equivalent entity.
* Demonstrate proven leadership of diverse professional teams, ideally across multiple campuses or geographically dispersed sites.
* Lead professional operations for complex education programs, including experience with selection, quotas and accreditation.
* Possess excellent interpersonal skills including a high level of empathy, equanimity and emotional intelligence.
* Utilise exemplary stakeholder management skills with an ability to influence and communicate effectively.
* Excel in developing and implementing strategic and operational plans, including risk, business continuity and workforce planning frameworks.

You will join the Department of Medical Education within the Melbourne Medical School, a dynamic hub for MD curriculum innovation and medical education scholarship. Working closely with metropolitan clinical schools and rural clinical school colleagues, you will support staff and students across health service locations connecting education, research and clinical practice.
