Job Title: Government Security Officer
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Government Security Officer.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing security clearance processes, processing criminal history checks, and reviewing clearance applications.
This role is ideal for someone with excellent organizational skills, strong communication abilities, and a keen eye for detail.
Key Responsibilities:
* Process criminal history checks and review clearance applications.
* Manage shared inboxes and respond to clearance-related enquiries.
* Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to progress and finalise security clearances.
* Coordinate with external vetting providers and other government agencies.
* Maintain internal systems and update records accurately and promptly.
* Provide policy and procedural advice in line with the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF).
* Prepare documentation for approvals and compile regular compliance reports.
* Provide front-facing support at the Security Counter when required.
* Assist with internal security processes, integrity checks, and remote work assessments.
* Maintain and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for clearance processes.
* Support ad hoc projects and contribute to broader section priorities as needed.
* Undertake file reviews to ensure records are managed in accordance with the Archives Act 1983.

Desirable Qualifications:
* Cert III or IV in Government (Security Vetting/PERSEC).
* Experience with clearance processing or working within a security administration team.
* Familiarity with the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) or similar government policies.
