Position Profile

The Registrar – Service – Intensive Care assesses all referrals to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) deciding on suitability for admission, notifies the Intensive Care Specialist of admission and discusses management, initiates appropriate management, and arranges for investigations to be carried out. In addition, the Service Registrar will carry out procedures within capabilities after discussion with the Duty Intensive Care Specialist and document procedures in the case notes. These procedures may include intubation, central line, and arterial line placement. In addition, the Service Registrar will participate in peer review, quality improvement and clinical governance activities and seminars.

Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) is a 783‐bed tertiary hospital offering a range of health services including the State rehabilitation service, a comprehensive cancer centre, purpose‐built mental health unit, maternity, paediatric and neonatal services, and the State adult burns service. FSH also delivers specialised services such as heart and lung transplantations and hyperbaric medicine.
