Position Summary
The Cook supports the daily kitchen operations at Pizzateca by preparing and cooking menu items to a consistent standard under the direction of the Head Chef or Chef. The role forms part of a well-structured kitchen brigade and contributes to maintaining food quality, efficiency, and compliance in a busy hospitality environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
* Prepare, cook and plate menu items in accordance with Pizzateca's established recipes, portion controls and presentation standards
* Execute assigned sections during service, including preparation of pizza components and other dishes as directed by the Head Chef or Chef
* Assist with daily food preparation, including dough preparation, sauces, toppings and other ingredients required for service
* Ensure food quality, taste and consistency are maintained throughout preparation and service
* Monitor cooking processes, temperatures and timing to ensure dishes are produced safely and to standard
* Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic workstation in line with food safety and sanitation requirements
* Comply with food handling, storage and labelling procedures, including stock rotation and waste minimisation
* Assist with basic stock control, including checking deliveries and reporting shortages or quality issues
* Follow kitchen policies, procedures and instructions to support efficient service and teamwork
* Work collaboratively with other cooks, pizza makers and kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations during peak periods
Qualifications, Skills and Experience required
* Trade certificate in cookery, or with appropriate practical experience
* Demonstrated at least one year of full time experience working as a Cook in a commercial restaurant or hospitality environment
* Ability to prepare and cook food consistently under direction in a fast-paced kitchen
* Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene and safe food handling practices
* Good knife skills and understanding of commercial kitchen equipment
* Ability to follow instructions, recipes and workplace procedures accurately
* Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work under pressure

Pay: $75,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
