About the role
The primary objective of a telecommunications field engineer is to install, maintain, and troubleshoot telecom systems and equipment. Ensure network performance, conduct site surveys, manage installations, and resolve technical issues in the field, ensuring reliable communication services while adhering to safety and regulatory standards.

Position: Telecommunication Field Engineer
Location of work: 1 Rosanove street, Clyde North VIC 3978
Employment type: Permanent, Full time
Salary Range: $80,000 to $90,000 plus Superannuation
Duties and Responsibilities
· Installation, testing, and commissioning of telecommunications equipment, including fibre optic, wireless, and copper-based systems
· Conducting field surveys, site assessments, and network inspections to determine equipment placement and technical requirements
· Performing maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on telecom infrastructure to ensure optimal network performance
· Configuring and integrating network hardware such as routers, switches, antennas, and transmission systems
· Completing technical documentation, service reports, and as-built drawings
· Coordinating with project managers, contractors, and clients to ensure timely delivery of field works
· Ensuring compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company procedures during all field operations
· Using diagnostic tools and software to identify network faults and implement corrective actions
· Providing on-site technical support and liaising with service providers when required
· Participating in on-call rotations and responding promptly to network outages or urgent field tasks
Qualification and skills required
· Advanced Diploma in Information Technology or related field.
· 1 years of experience as a Telecommunication Field Engineer.
· Knowledge of configuring and troubleshooting routers, switches, firewalls, and other networking equipment is crucial. Familiarity with various protocols like TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, and OSPF is essential.
· Understanding of wireless technologies (Wi-Fi, LTE, 5G, WiMAX, etc.) and the principles behind RF (Radio Frequency) signal propagation, interference, and optimization.
Desirable:
· Experience working on NBN, Telstra, or other fibre infrastructure projects.
· Familiarity with Greenfield developments or local council approval processes.
