We have partnered with a highly respected and established business that specialises in large-scale renewable energy projects and HV substation works. Known for delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality outcomes, they work with leading utilities and major developers across Australia.
With a strong pipeline of substation, civil, and grid-connected renewable projects, the business is expanding and now seeking a Senior Project Engineer and a team lead to support end-to-end design, procurement, and project delivery.
About The Role
As Project Engineer, you will leverage your technical expertise to support the design, integration, procurement, and construction of HV substations, civil infrastructure, and large-scale renewable projects. You will work closely with project managers, designers, construction teams, manufacturers, and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with client expectations.
You will play a critical role across all stages of delivery, from early planning and design development through to procurement, site coordination, quality assurance, and final handover.
Key Responsibilities
* Build strong working relationships with internal teams, external partners, suppliers, and clients.
* Support planning, scoping, estimating, and tender development for new projects.
* Manage project documentation including RFIs, NCRs, ITPs, and design submissions.
* Review engineering design packages to ensure constructability, compliance, and stakeholder alignment.
* Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for relevant scope areas.
* Prepare Scopes of Work, technical specifications, and RFQs for equipment and services.
* Manage procurement packages from specification through to delivery, installation, and commissioning.
* Evaluate supplier proposals and make recommendations based on technical and commercial criteria.
* Attend site or manufacturer facilities for inspections, FAT/SAT, and quality checks.
* Ensure adherence to safety standards, quality management systems, industry codes, and regulations.
* Contribute to continuous improvement, innovation, and best-practice project delivery.
* Mentor junior engineers and support cross-discipline collaboration.
Qualifications and Experience
* Bachelor of Electrical Engineering.
* 5+ years' experience as a Project Engineer within HV, utilities, EPC, or electrical infrastructure environments.
* Strong knowledge of HV primary and secondary equipment, substation design and related infrastructure.
* Understanding of commercial project management principles.
* Demonstrated experience with procurement, technical evaluations, and supplier engagement.
* Strong understanding of safety, risk management, and quality assurance processes.
* Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to mentor team members and work collaboratively across disciplines.
