About The Role
This role will be mainly responsible for ensuring that Iron Ore accounting activities are performed in a timely, accurate & efficient manner and in accordance with Group and International Accounting standards.
Position will be based in Perth under a fixed-term agreement and will operate on a part‑time basis (4 days per week).
Key Accountabilities
* Ensure conformance with the BHP Charter, the BHP Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations.
* Commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development.
* Ensure day‑to‑day general ledger accounting activities are performed in a timely manner.
* Execute accounting and reporting processes timely and effectively, ensuring operational discipline and strict adherence to internal accounting guidelines and controls.
* Execute joint‑venture queries timely and effectively, ensuring operational discipline and strict adherence to joint‑venture agreements.
* Review and reconcile relevant general ledger balances to ensure transactions are recorded accurately.
* Prepare briefing papers and stewardship review at financial reporting dates.
* Identify and implement process improvement opportunities.
* Continuously update process documentation to reflect latest processes.
* Contribute to and support global process standardisation and continuous improvement.
* Assist with analysis and query resolution as appropriate.
* Other tasks as directed by management.
About You
* Tertiary qualification in Accounting.
* CA/CPA/ACCA (or equivalent) or progressing towards would be an advantage.
* Significant years of relevant experience.
* Proficiency with MS Excel and experience working with SAP.
* Understanding of financial accounting concepts & processes (closure & rehabilitation provision and deferred stripping concepts and processes preferred).
* Exposure to the resources industry preferred.
