Nursing Support Worker Role
This is a rewarding and challenging position that involves providing essential clinical and personal care support to residents. You will work closely with nursing and therapy teams to ensure the highest standards of care.
Clinical & Care Support:
* Assist residents with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, mobility, and meal assistance while promoting independence.
* Measure and record vital signs, weight, and fluid intake/output as directed.
* Support medication management by reminding residents and assisting with medication administration under nurse supervision.
* Assist with basic wound care, applying dressings, and reporting any changes to nursing staff.
Therapy & Rehabilitation Assistance:
* Implement prescribed therapy plans, including gentle exercises and mobility support.
* Assist occupational therapists and physiotherapists during treatment sessions.
* Support dementia care by implementing behaviour management strategies.
Documentation & Reporting:
* Maintain accurate electronic and paper records of care provided.
* Document changes in resident conditions, behaviours, or care needs.
* Complete incident reports and risk assessments when required.
Resident Wellbeing & Engagement:
* Provide emotional support through active listening and meaningful conversation.
* Encourage resident participation in social activities and community programs.
* Advocate for resident rights and preferences in all care decisions.
Safety & Compliance:
* Follow infection control protocols, including proper hand hygiene and PPE use.
* Assist with manual handling using correct equipment and techniques.
* Report maintenance issues, hazards, or near misses promptly.
