2026 Casual Sessional Academic Tutor
The Indigenous Tuition Program (ITP) is funded through Prime Minister & Cabinet (PM&C) under Section 238-10 of the Higher Education Support ACT. The purpose of the tuition program is to improve and accelerate the educational outcomes of Indigenous tertiary students by providing supplementary tutorial assistance in their chosen program of study (i.e. the courses that students are formally enrolled in). Ultimately, the ITP serves to nurture a learning environment that facilitates self-directed learning in Indigenous students and allows them to reach the same levels of those for non-Indigenous Australians.
All ITP tutors are contracted on a casual/irregular basis by the Australian National University (ANU) to provide services to the Tjabal Indigenous Higher Education Centre. Tutors should be aware that work through the ITP is highly variable, is dependent on student demand and can change from semester to semester. Tutors who have tutored previously are not guaranteed continual work. Tutoring can be terminated for a number of reasons, which may include academic, non-academic reasoning and is at the discretion of the Director.
