The Opportunity:
Due to our continued and expected growth, we are seeking a suitably experienced Mechanic with strong Heavy Duty Diesel and Trailer experience to join our Bibra Lake Trailer Repairs operations in East Arm, Northern Territory.
This position will operate from our Darwin Depot in East Arm working Monday- Friday with on call requirements on nights & weekends.
This role would be suitable for a locally based candidate and will be responsible for conducting all servicing, maintenance and repairs for our road transport equipment with preferred experience in Volvo, Mac, Kenworth.
Job tasks and responsibilities:
* Undertaking and completion of scheduled maintenance, servicing, repairs and general fleet maintenance.
* Attending to breakdowns and diagnosis of maintenance problems.
* Completion of all necessary paperwork - job cards, maintenance checklists, work orders, service reports.
* Completing general heavy vehicle and mobile plant maintenance and repairs as required.
* This position does not involve rebuilding motors etc - it is more completing all the general servicing, repairs, scheduled maintenance, breakdowns on all plant and equipment.
Essential Criteria:
* Trade Qualified Diesel Mechanic
* Relevant licences and tickets
* Ability to complete tasks within timeframes
* Strong reporting skills
* Strong skills in time management and self-motivated
* Excellent communication skills including verbal and written, good listening skills
* Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and time spent on each job to ensure compliance with industry standards and company procedures.
* Adhere to all safety regulations and ensure that repairs and maintenance are carried out in compliance with industry standards.
* Comply with Drug and Alcohol screening
* Willing to undergo a pre-employment medical
Upgrades & Learning: Participate in training and skill development programs for upgrading from light diesel mechanics to heavy-duty diesel mechanics. Opportunity for ongoing certification and specialized training.
Desirable Criteria:
* Trade Qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic
* Experience in European and American trucks
* Relevant demonstrated experience with Prime Mover, Heavy Haulage Trailing Equipment in a similar role
* Unrestricted manual C Class licence essential
* Forklift licence
