Position Information

Burwood Public School is located in the Strathfield district and currently has an enrolment of 450 students. The student population is 96% non-English speaking background and we have 3 Aboriginal students. The Hearing team is based at Burwood Public School and comprises six teaching positions. Each teacher has a case load and works with students from pre-school to Year 12 across a number of school networks. The students are from a diverse range of linguistic and cultural backgrounds. The Itinerant Support Teacher Hearing (ISTH) develops and implements individualised programs for students on their caseload. They liaise with and support teachers to develop inclusive educational practices and enhance student learning outcomes.


Selection Criteria

Approval to teach. Qualifications to teach students with hearing impairment or in final year of Masters studies pending approval of final results- students with hearing impairment. Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and evaluate quality, inclusive, evidence-based learning plans to meet the complex needs of students with hearing impairment from age of diagnosis to Year 12 across varied educational settings. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively and flexibly with all stakeholders, including students, school staff, parents and allied health agencies.


Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
