Our client is a boutique digital agency in Sydney, female-led, and fiercely independent. They work with fintech, ecommerce, and lead gen clients who trust them to deliver results.
SEO has been solid, but it's been living in Paid's shadow. With the agency looking to 2x this year, the founder wants someone ambitious and confident enough to take the reins, elevate the offering, and prove what SEO can do when it gets proper attention and investment.
You'd be leading SEO strategy and delivery, managing a junior specialist, identifying opportunities with existing clients (real upsell potential), and building this into something clients actively want—not just something they're sold.
And as the function grows, so do you: Specialist/Manager → Director → Head of SEO. The Founder has done this with others in the business. She means it.
No 2 days are the same, but you are going to be working on:
Leading SEO across the client portfolio and investigating AI Search and GEO where applicable
Managing and developing a junior SEO specialist
Owning strategy and delivery - technical SEO, content strategy, link building, the full scope
Creating new opportunities with existing clients who aren't doing SEO yet
Building the offering so SEO gets the spotlight it deserves
Collaborating with Paid and Content teams
Stepping up into a Director role as you grow the function
This isn't just executing campaigns. This is owning SEO and making it matter.
What you need to be considered for something this interesting:
5+ years' SEO experience - agency side, you are keen to step up, or you have done this before
Technical foundation - site audits, GA4, Search Console, schema, Core Web Vitals
Strategic thinking - you understand how SEO fits into broader commercial goals
People skills - mentor a junior, present to clients, collaborate across teams
Tools proficiency - Ahrefs, SEMrush, Screaming Frog (you know what you need)
Commercial mindset - SEO drives revenue, not just rankings
This works if you're a strong Specialist ready to step up. It also works if you're already managing SEO but want real ownership without the politics.
