About the role
The Southern Queensland Correctional Centre Stage 2 - Commissioning Manager (Health) Project Officer will contribute to the achievement of the project's objectives by the completion of allocated project deliverables and/or specialised bodies of work.
Prison Health Services (PHS) is a primary care model which supports prisoners in Queensland correctional facilities to stay well by providing access to quality health care. Care is delivered within the State prisons located in West Moreton Health under a Memorandum of Understanding between Queensland Health and Queensland Corrective Services (QCS).
**General health services are provided at**:
- Arthur Gorrie Correctional Centre (AGCC)
- Borallon Training and Correctional Centre (BTCC)
- Brisbane Correctional Centre (BCC)
- Brisbane Women's Correctional Centre (WCC)
- including Helana Jones Centre
- Brisbane Youth Detention Centre (BYDC)
- Southern Queensland Correctional Centre (SQCC)
- West Moreton Youth Detention Centre
- Wolston Correctional Centre (WCC)
PHS provides level 1 services within the Clinical Services Capability Framework in the areas of medication, medical, pathology and surgical. PHS provides nursing services in a primary care model with the goal of primary care provision to prisoners.
Service at BYDC supports an integrated health service model including general health, oral health, mental health, drug and alcohol counselling and sexual health services for youth within the centre.
Medical officers provide consultation and treatment on a limited hourly basis. Instead of targeting prisoner health as a cohort, the program focuses on individual diseases and conditions. PHS works closely with other health care providers inclusive of government, non-government and private sectors to provide a range of general health services.
About you
- Ability to provide project support across a range of projects/key bodies of work to progress the achievement of project deliverables.
- Demonstrated ability to show initiative, time management and organisational skills with an ability to analyse and monitor project activities.
- Demonstrated ability to establish priorities to organise/optimise work flow, through effective use of workplace systems and processes and collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders to meet strict deadlines, produce quality outcomes and achieve results.
- Sound communication skills including the ability to prepare written material and clearly convey information.
**Mandatory Requirements**:
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
- Vaccinated against COVID-19 as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO.12/21and the Queensland Health Human Resources Policy B70.
