Beca HunterH2O is the Australian water business of one of Asia Pacific’s largest independent advisory, design and engineering consultancies, Beca. We are a formidable team of 300+ water specialists passionate about healthy and sustainable communities wherever we work.
We are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join our multidisciplinary water team in Newcastle. Ideally you will have experience in design engineering of water and wastewater treatment plants, reservoirs, hydraulic structures, pump stations and conveyance pipelines. Your responsibilities will include review of design requirements, site investigations, calculations, modelling, oversight of drafting and preparation of reports and specifications.
Key responsibilities
* Design and develop structural solutions for water and wastewater treatment plants, reservoirs, hydraulic structures and conveyance pipelines.
* Review design specifications, perform calculations and modelling, oversee drafting and produce technical reports and specifications.
* Build strong client relationships and provide solutions and service to clients both off and on site.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across multiple offices and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in civil (structural) engineering.
* Minimum of 10 years’ experience in water and wastewater treatment and/or conveyance design.
* Knowledge of safety in design, constructability and operational practices and relevant Australian standards and WSAA codes.
* Knowledge of risk management with the ability to identify project and design related risks.
* Experience managing small to medium engineering design projects.
* Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Commitment to working safely and within the company’s HSEQ systems.
* Ability to travel on occasions as required.
