Overview
We are seeking a Plant Mechanic to work with our Local Government Client in Grafton.
Start: ASAP - 6 month assignment
Hours: Full Time Hours, Monday - Friday
Pay Rate: $41.74 - $49.78 Casual per hour (dependent on experience)
Purpose of the role:
To assist the Workshop Supervisor in ensuring that our client's heavy plant, heavy vehicle and light vehicle fleet remain in a protected, well-maintained and roadworthy condition by undertaking high quality mechanical maintenance and repair services, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain light fleet, heavy plant and minor equipment, ensuring an efficient delivery of service and a safe working environment for employees and contractors.
- Assist in the development of new workshop practices and initiatives.
- Undertake registration inspections for Council light fleet and heavy vehicles. Complete and maintain inspection records as required by legislation.
- Undertake annual plant inspections of approved contractor plant and equipment. Complete and maintain records to approve plant to be used on Council sites.
- Monitor and train the workshop apprentice. Mentor and guide their training to ensure they are competent in their trade.
- Fault find and repair hydraulic issues within Council’s heavy vehicles.
- Fault find and repair minor electrical issues within Council’s light fleet and heavy vehicles.
- Fault find and repair pneumatic issues within Council’s heavy vehicles.
- Create job numbers for workshop jobs to be completed. Where necessary creating purchase orders for materials to complete repair and/or maintenance activities.
- Undertake new equipment and new vehicle fit outs as directed by the Fleet Officer or Fleet Coordinator, including fabrication where necessary.
- Assist in the management of the procurement process for Council works, materials and services.
- Coordinate delivery of materials and services required to complete Council designated works.
- Undertake works in accordance with all quality, environmental and WHS requirements, completing all appropriate documentation.
Mandatory Requirements
- Trade Certificate (Mobile Plant and/or Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanic) or equivalent trade qualification
- Current Driver's Licence
- White Card
- 2 x contactable work references
Desirable Requirements (may need to be obtained in the first year of employment)
- Confined spaces ticket
- HR Driver's Licence
