Job Title: Field Operations Specialist
This role plays a key part in ensuring the delivery of safe field operations to the Australian Antarctic Program. The Field Operations Specialist will be responsible for designing, constructing and delivering field camps of varying scales to support science activities conducted under the auspices of the program.
About the Job
* The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in delivering or supporting activities such as field camp construction, field training, field station support or remote area operations.
* A strong background in project management or support, equipment research and design, written and verbal communication skills and stakeholder engagement is also required.
The ideal candidate will be able to build and maintain relationships and contribute to the negotiation of safe and mutually agreeable outcomes. They must also be able to identify and stay abreast of technological advancements which may support and improve the endurance, effectiveness, efficiency and safety of the program's field camps and broader field support activities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Supporting field camp project management, including the end-to-end provision of field camp delivery.
2. Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to identify best practice field camp solutions.
3. Identifying and staying abreast of technological advancements which may support and improve the endurance, effectiveness, efficiency and safety of the program's field camps and broader field support activities.
