**About the Role**
Reporting to the Head of Contracts of the Project Delivery and Governance Group, the Commercial Manager will be responsible in supporting contract delivery and project performance across a broad range of projects within the Australian business. The role will work closely with delivery teams, as well with other commercial and project support resources to deliver sound and practical commercial advice. The role provides commercial leadership and implementation of commercial processes and practices for the successful delivery of projects within the Australian business.
To make this role a success, you will be collaborating with the Executives, Legal team, Project Director, Project Managers & clients.
**What you'll do**:
- Contract management of large infrastructure projects, including overseeing day-to-day contract administration, contract claims and disputes, internal reporting, and cost control on projects
- Working with clients to define their requirements and discuss progress, delivering a high-quality client experience:
- Oversee administration of contracts, providing guidance and direction to delivery teams.
- Support the project team in identifying and minimising contractual risk on projects.
- Manage the commercial strategy and negotiation process for claims.
- Prepare and negotiate major subconsultant agreements as required.
- Assist the team in monitoring and reporting project budgets and remaining costs to complete
- Proactively interact with client's commercial representative and manage solving of commercial issues
- Ensure all essential project, financial and business data is kept up to date.
- Educate and mentor project managers in the achievement desired commercial outcomes of project delivery.
- Engaging and collaborating with WSP Legal to coordinate their support on contract and commercial matters as required.
- Monitor implementation of the business systems, take corrective action where necessary.
- Assist to develop a high level of commercial awareness within the business.
- Promote WSP values ensuring a safe working environment is maintained always.

**Main Requirements**
- Applicants with 5-10 years of experience in a similar or related role will be considered
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in relevant field of experience
- Demonstrated experience in contract management and commercial negotiations on large infrastructure projects.
- Ability to understand, articulate and achieve an effective commercial outcome based on a party's ability to identify and manage risk.
- Excellent communication, relationship management and influencing skills.
- Ability to summarise, present and report on contractual risk to senior stakeholders.
- Ability to adapt and respond to change.
- Strong commercial and business acumen
- Track record of delivering results
