What You'll Be Doing

The Clinical Research Nurse (CRN) provides safe, compassionate, person‐centred care to patients and families of Sydney Children's Hospital Network participating in research studies and/or clinical trials. The role will assist with the coordination and implementation of a number of research studies across various specialties.

The CRN will participate in recruitment of research participants, facilitate the consent process, administer clinical interventions required as part of the study, observe and respond to side effects, liaise with drug companies and other study sponsors, and ensure accurate collection and submission of data in line with study protocols and research regulations.

The CRN acts as a role model within the clinical research team, demonstrating behaviour and interacting with patients, families and staff in a way that promotes a culture and standards reflecting the NSW Health CORE values of Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment.

Qualifications

  • Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Considerable clinical nursing experience in a hospital setting
  • Experience or strong interest in the administration, coordination and delivery of paediatric research and clinical trials
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload with competing demands
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and autonomously while adhering to scope of practice
  • Computer literacy, including experience with Microsoft Office
  • Versatile with working hours to meet clinical workload demands
