The Opportunity
With a strong pipeline of upcoming water infrastructure projects across NSW, we are seeking a highly experienced Project Director - Water to provide strategic leadership and ensure the successful delivery of complex, large-scale works. This is a pivotal executive role responsible for driving project strategy, engaging with key clients and stakeholders, and overseeing the performance of multidisciplinary teams. The Project Director will play a central role in shaping the success of major water infrastructure projects and building long-term partnerships across the sector.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide overall leadership and direction for major water infrastructure projects from tender through to delivery and handover.
* Develop and execute project strategies to meet client, commercial, and operational objectives.
* Act as the primary client interface, building strong relationships with stakeholders including government, utilities, JV partners, and local communities.
* Oversee project budgets, programs, and risk management, ensuring best-for-project outcomes.
* Lead and mentor senior management teams including Construction Managers, Project Managers, and Engineers.
* Drive commercial and contractual performance, managing major subcontractors and suppliers at executive level.
* Ensure delivery to the highest standards of safety, quality, and environmental compliance.
* Represent the business in industry forums and contribute to positioning the organisation as a leading Tier 1 water contractor.
* Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
* Significant experience as a Project Director or equivalent leading major water or infrastructure projects.
* Proven track record of delivering projects exceeding $200M+ in value.
* Exceptional stakeholder management and client relationship skills at executive level.
* Strong commercial and contractual acumen, with the ability to navigate complex procurement and delivery models.
* Inspirational leadership with the ability to develop and guide large, diverse delivery teams.
* Commitment to health, safety, and environmental excellence in all aspects of project delivery.
