Period of Appointment
Appointment to the role is on a fixed term, flexible basis (up to 73.5 hours per fortnight) for 18 months, with the possibility of an extension.
Duties
* Contribute to the development, care, research and interpretation of the Museum’s Migrant Heritage collections with particular emphasis on the strategy to collect, research and record contemporary migrant experiences.
* Build and maintain respectful relationships with the Tasmanian migrant community to develop local history collections and strong networks.
* Facilitate the recording of oral histories including educating and empowering recent migrant communities to document the contemporary migrant experience and preserve their heritage.
* Contribute to the development of an exhibition that documents the recent migration history including cataloguing exhibition content in database/s and producing public programs including through online delivery.
* Expand the knowledge of the Museum’s migrant collections and registration activities associated with the cultural heritage collections.
* Build professional knowledge and relationships with Tasmania’s diverse communities and professional networks and expand TMAG’s community profile, at the same time documenting the contact details of recent migrants for TMAG reference.
* Identify funding opportunities and develop business cases to enable public promotion and recognition of the project.
Desirable Requirements
* A current driver’s licence
* Relevant experience or working knowledge of contemporary migration within Tasmania's multicultural communities
* Experience in developing business cases for grants and submitting grant applications and reporting would be advantageous.
