Overview

ATSILS QLD LTD is a leading not-for-profit organisation delivering comprehensive legal services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across Queensland. Since 1972, we have grown to 24 offices across the state to uphold justice and human rights.

Role — Legal Practitioner; Solicitor (Criminal Law) – FIFO

Role Summary

We are seeking a Criminal Law Legal Practitioner (FIFO) to be based at one of our 24 Queensland offices. The successful candidate will provide high-quality criminal legal representation across adult and youth jurisdictions, as part of one of Queensland\'s largest legal practices. The role requires travel by road, air, and occasionally sea, with estimated travel occupying 50% of the work time for extended periods, including remote locations.

About You / Qualifications

You must be admitted as a Legal Practitioner in Queensland and hold (or be eligible for immediate acquisition of) a current Practising Certificate. You must hold (or be eligible for immediate application) a current Queensland Government Blue Card prior to commencing work. You will demonstrate a high level of professional service in Criminal Law across both adult and youth jurisdictions. A current Driver Licence and willingness to drive for work are essential. Ideally, you will have a minimum of five years full-time post-admission experience, resilience for complex cases, and the ability to develop culturally sensitive service skills.

Key Responsibilities

* Manage your own workflows with a focus on quality service rather than billable hours.
* Contribute to a family-friendly work environment with flexible working hours.
* Utilise salary packaging options available to public beneficiary organisations; benefits include superannuation and additional perks.
* Access free Continuing Professional Development (CPD) facilities and participate in our Workforce Development Strategy (much of which is self-paced).
* Collaborate with multiple teams to provide legal services across jurisdictions and travel as required.

Selection Criteria: Six criteria are outlined in the Position Description (PD). Please email (emailprotected) to request a copy of the PD. We aim to interview promptly with a target commencement within seven weeks. ATSILS wishes you every success in this fast-paced recruitment.
