Contract Details
Join Metso in this 6‑month contract opportunity supporting our Karratha Service Centre. We’re seeking an experienced and proactive Safety Officer to partner with our local team, drive HSE initiatives, and foster a strong safety culture onsite.
Responsibilities
- Supporting the implementation of Metso’s HSE Management System.
- Assisting with the implementation of risk management processes and monitoring their compliance and effectiveness.
- Conducting inspections and participating in audits as required.
- Working collaboratively with all stakeholders to foster a robust and positive safety culture.
- Assisting with injury management and rehabilitation activities as required.
- Promoting and applying professional, ethical, and legal standards in all aspects of work.
- Monitoring, measuring, and evaluating HSE performance to drive continual improvement.
- Being an integrated member of both the Metso QEHS and Karratha Service Centre teams.
Qualifications
- A solid understanding of HSE Management Systems and Workplace Health and Safety legislative requirements.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage others.
- Experience working within mining, manufacturing, or related heavy‑industry environments.
- Proven experience facilitating incident investigations and contributing to continuous improvement outcomes.
- Auditing experience with a focus on compliance and practical risk management.
- A Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety (desirable).
- Experience in injury management and return-to-work coordination.
- Ability to deliver training programs and support competency development across teams.
- Experience developing safe work procedures and risk assessments.
