About the Role

The Department of Education is looking for Psychologists and Occupational Therapists to contribute to the important work of our Student Support Services (SSS) team in Wyndham in supporting schools to address the barriers to learning that impact on student(s) progress to achieving their educational goals and development potential.

Working with our SSS team you will have access to:

* Structured induction and a range of regular professional development opportunities, e.g. Peer and 1:1 supervision/coaching - both discipline specific and team-based peers
* Mentors to help build a professional career
* Implementation of a range of innovative practice opportunities that help to meet all, some and individualised student need, e.g. Combination of consultation and direct work with students and teachers
* Functional needs assessment
* Working with teachers and school leaders to influence (system) change
* Access to up to date resources and technology

This is a full-time ongoing role with flexible work arrangements.

About the area

Student Support Services aims is to assist children and young people facing a range of barriers to learning to achieve their educational and developmental potential through the provision of a range of strategies and specialized support at individual, group, and school levels.

Working in our Student Support Services team is deeply meaningful, highly rewarding, challenging, and dynamic and gives you the opportunity to make a positive contribution to the lives of children and young people, their families, schools, and communities.

You'll work with a diverse group of people who share a common goal, and you will be well supported to use your professional skills and knowledge to provide specialised support at the individual, group, school, and area level. Our dynamic team comprises Speech Pathologists, Psychologists, Behavioural Analyst, Occupational Therapists and Social Workers.

You will also work with other Area and regional staff, such as, Education Improvement Leaders, Visiting Teachers, School Nurses and Professional Practice Leaders to improve learning and wellbeing outcomes in schools.

About the Department

The department provides a wide range of learning and development support and services.

The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.
