The Role
The Consumer/Family/Carer Peer Worker upholds the Lived Experience values and principles to encourage a recovery‐focused, person‐centred, and strengths‐based approach to all aspects of work. Using their lived experience, the worker supports families and friends and shares experiential knowledge with those attending the service.
You will need
* Ability to use lived experience of mental illness to promote recovery and enhanced individual outcomes for clients of mental health services.
* Demonstrated understanding of peer work best practice, the values that support peer work and the impact of mental illness on people's lives.
* Commitment to work collaboratively and effectively with multiple key internal and external stakeholders including consumers, carers, family members, and public, government and community service providers.
Details of appointment
Fixed term, casual – position working as and when required, commencing as soon as possible for approximately 24 months. Hours will be negotiated with the successful applicant. Applicants note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full‐time, part‐time, and casual vacancies.
Salary
$67,193 to $72,126 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount. Plus 25% Casual Loading (Equivalent of $42.34 to $45.45 per hour). Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.

Eligibility
Essential criteria:
* Personal experience of mental illness and use of clinical mental health services
* Current Driver's Licence
Desirable criteria:
* Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or willingness to work towards the same
* Evidence of knowledge, skill and experience in the recovery approach
