Senior Case Manager Job Description
The Community Corrections team is responsible for supervising adults who have been sentenced to a community-based order by the courts or released to parole by Parole Board Queensland. We are committed to keeping communities safe and reducing the risk of re-offending by facilitating positive behavioural change in supervised individuals.
The Community Operations team, based in Roma, supports operational practice delivery for the Community Corrections Regions, monitors and reports on practice and operational performance and trends, and oversees practice leadership for the division.
* We require a Senior Case Manager to ensure a high level of community safety through the case management of offenders within the community in accordance with their assessed risk and need.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Executing responsibilities in accordance with governance mechanisms to deliver compliance and support business improvement.
2. Conducting initial and progressive assessments of risk and program suitability.
3. Identifying and responding appropriately to risks arising from offender assessment, including liaising with relevant managers, staff, and external stakeholders.
4. Preparing high-quality assessment documents and undertaking verification and quality control of assessment and associated documents.
5. Ensuring direct interaction with a caseload of high-risk sexual and violent offenders assigned to you and appropriately identifying risk and needs.
6. Developing appropriate plans to meet the conditions and requirements of court and parole board orders and facilitating appropriate behavioural and attitudinal change in offenders.
7. Ensuring compliance with legislation and Agency procedures and standards for the case management of offenders.
8. Ensuring supervision practices and the monitoring of offenders contribute to ensuring the highest level of community safety and supports the achievement of internal oversight mechanisms.
9. Ensuring the appropriate exchange of information with the Queensland Police Service and other government Agencies to optimise offender management.
10. Maintaining security, accuracy, access, and appropriateness of case notes and intervention reports for appropriate staff and approved internal and external authorities.
11. Developing intervention strategies to facilitate appropriate behavioural and attitudinal change in offenders.
12. Monitoring compliance with the requirements of orders and taking breach action in accordance with prescribed procedures.
13. Coordinating, facilitating, and monitoring the implementation of offender management plans in accordance with assessed risk and need.
14. Providing timely service and advice to courts, boards, and other Agencies regarding offenders.
15. Executing duties as an officer of the Court.
16. Supporting the development of peers and delivery of quality offender management through peer verification, mentoring, and coaching of junior and/or geographically displaced staff.
17. Conducting drug testing of offenders and maintaining accurate statistics.
18. Promoting and nurturing a team culture that has good morale, values diversity, and shares knowledge and experience through informal and formal coaching/mentoring techniques in developing capability of entry-level case management staff.
