Job Description
A social studies educator is responsible for cultivating an appreciation of American ideals and cultural heritage. They must develop proficiency in the use of social studies inquiry skills and concepts.
Responsibilities:
* Create a secure and positive learning environment that fosters engagement and understanding.
* Implement instructional strategies that promote a positive climate, encouraging students to actively participate in the learning process.
* Instruct students in citizenship and core subject matter specified by state law and administrative procedures of the school district.
* Develop a balanced social studies program incorporating factual background information, material on current events, discussion time, and other relevant activities designed to enhance student skills and attitudes.
Required Skills/Abilities: Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to maintain professionalism in high-pressure situations.
Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education. State Certification in Secondary Education. Two to four years of experience working in a classroom setting. Experience in an urban school setting is preferred. Bilingual ability, English required and Spanish preferred.
