Our new Coordinator Recreation and Sporting will lead the planning, coordination and delivery of Council's recreation and sporting services, ensuring facilities, programs and assets across the Local Government Area are well‑maintained, strategically managed and aligned with community needs. They will oversee recreation programs, manage sporting facility operations, guide strategic planning projects, coordinate teams and contractors, and build strong partnerships with clubs, associations and community groups to enhance participation and quality of local recreational opportunities.
You'll Work With a Great Team To
Lead the development and implementation of strategic recreation and sporting plans, including feasibility studies and master planning for future assets.
Oversee operations and maintenance of sporting facilities, aquatic centres and recreation programs, ensuring service levels and facility presentation are met.
Manage asset condition monitoring, data collection and planning for new assets, upgrades and replacement programs.
Coordinate and lead the Recreation & Sporting team, ensuring effective communication, collaboration and delivery of community-focused services.
Manage recreation and sporting projects from planning through to delivery, including budgets, timelines, contractor engagement and stakeholder communication.
What You'll Bring
To thrive in this role, you will need:
Bachelor degree in Open Space Management, Landscape Architecture, Natural Resource Management, or related discipline or extensive demonstrated experience in open space or natural resource management in lieu of formal qualifications.
Extensive experience in recreation and sporting facility management, including strategic planning and operational oversight at a senior level.
Highly developed communication, leadership and stakeholder engagement skills with demonstrated ability to engage effectively with diverse community groups, sporting associations, elected representatives and internal teams.
Demonstrated ability and experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams for recreation and sporting facilities.
Demonstrated experience in project management, budget management and contract administration for recreation and sporting facilities and programs.
Comprehensive experience working with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes and deliver complex projects within regulatory frameworks.
Experience in grant funding applications, volunteer management, and community engagement programs for recreation and sporting initiatives.
We Would Also Love You To Have
Experience in aquatic facility management and contract oversight for recreation facility operations.

This position offers an attractive annual salary ranging from $104,751 to $132,086 (pending qualifications). A leaseback vehicle is also available.
