Overview
The successful candidate will be responsible for performing engineering and detail design of substation projects by applying intensive and diversified knowledge of substation design and practices in a safe, effective, efficient and economical accomplishment of the assigned tasks.
Core Functions / Responsibilities
* Conducts actual inspection of substation sites and gathers field data necessary for the design of substation structures
* Requests/Confirms and checks availability of geological/geotechnical report and topographic survey and other data needed for design
* Prepares and checks the detail design activities, i.e., Site Development Plan, Drainage System, Buildings, Foundations, Slope protection structures, Bid Price Schedule and quantity take-off/estimates, Scope of Works, Bid/Construction Drawings, specifications (Civil portion) for Substation Projects
* Checks design documents: specifications, design calculations and design/fabrication drawings of gantry and equipment support steel structures, design and structural drawings of various substation buildings and other documents submitted by contractors and project proponents in accordance with the bidding documents
* Prepares memoranda, reports and other official correspondence. 6. Prepares design options to achieve the best possible balance between cost and design option
* Participates in inter-disciplinary design review adhering to design specification, guidelines and standards
* Participates actual inspection of Substation Sites, coordination meetings and other basic design-related activities on various stages of the project implementation and collaborates with Section Head in assessing technical problems on the construction and/or operation and recommends solutions to such problems
Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
* Licensed Civil
* Has advanced knowledge and skills in the application of theories, standards, practices and concepts in the field of Civil design for S/S
* Has advanced knowledge in CAD software (i.e., AutoCAD, Civil3D, etc) and/or Staadpro, Microsoft, other structural software
