Perform Australia is seeking an energetic, fun-loving actor to share their knowledge and love of drama with children and young people.
Each week you will have classes in specific age groups (4-5 years, 6-9 years, 10-13 years and 14-17 years) of keen students who want to learn performance skills. Some terms we work towards live performances so some directing experience is helpful.
What you'll be doing
You'll be delivering top quality after-school drama classes using our detailed curriculum, which you prepare in your own time before the day. Having our full curriculum and scripts provided to you dramatically reduces your preparation time but still allows you to add your own flair, depending on the needs of your class. You'll run a warmup, an energiser game, and get into the body of your teaching for the week - be it acting skills and techniques, rehearsals, or other relevant content that will help kids grow as performers. You'll wrap up the lesson with a fantastic summary on what they've learned about acting, and make sure that all your students leave with happy faces.
Conditions
Classes take place in suburbs around Canberra so it's recommended you have a car.
Casual and fixed-term part-time contracts are available and occasionally there are extra shifts available to cover absences of other teachers.
