The Royal Hobart Hospital is seeking interest from suitably qualified applicants for a Staff Specialist Neurodevelopmental Paediatrician vacancy.
We are establishing a multidisciplinary, evidence-based ADHD assessment service to support children and adolescents across Tasmania.
This initiative aims to reduce wait times, enhance early intervention, strengthen transition pathways to primary care and improve cross-sector collaboration with both educational systems primary care.
The service will operate within a public health framework with outreach capability across the state where possible.
Primary Tasks
Provide clinical services of the highest possible standard to paediatric and adolescent patients and their families referred for neurodevelopmental, behavioural, and learning problems.
Actively pursue improved outcomes for Tasmanian children and adolescents by participating in teaching, audit, evaluation, peer review and quality improvement.
Promote and participate in research through the Department of Paediatrics or University of Tasmania School of Medicine.
Additional Responsibilities
Provide outpatient clinical care of children and adolescents with suspected neurodevelopmental issues.
Provide supervision for registrars in developmental paediatrics.
Develop sustainable practice partnerships for neurodevelopmental assessment and management of children and young people in Southern Tasmania.
Provide leadership and drive the evolution of developmental services for Tasmanian children and adolescents.
Participate in statewide planning for neurodevelopmental services for Tasmanian children and adolescents.
Champion a child safe culture that upholds the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations.

Where applicable, exercise delegations in accordance with a range of Acts, Regulations, Awards, administrative authorities and functional arrangements as mandated by Statutory office holders including the Secretary and Head of State Service.
The relevant Unit Manager can provide details to the occupant of delegations applicable to this position.
Comply at all times with policy and protocol requirements, including those relating to mandatory education, training and assessment.
Qualifications and Requirements
Holds specialist registration; or
Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) on the specialist pathway
Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who has a recognised overseas specialist qualification and is assessed as having sufficient experience in the speciality.

Pre-employment Checks
Conviction checks in the following areas: Crimes of violence, Sex related offences, Serious drug offences, Crimes involving dishonesty.
Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
Experience in neurodevelopmental and/or community paediatrics.

Medical Practitioners (Public Sector) Award.
A remuneration package comprising the Agreement base salary, relevant allowances and other entitlements will be negotiated with the successful applicant dependent on clinical experience and seniority.
Base salary points range for Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 at $216,300 through to Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 11 at $296,640 with further salary increments available.
Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $300,216 - $310,389 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
Allowance in lieu of motor vehicle currently set at $28,786 pro rata per annum, paid fortnightly (with CPI indexation on 1 July each year).
Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,974 pro rata per annum.
On call allowance % of Base Salary.
All other allowances as per current Award.
And subject to approval from the Private Patient Scheme Committee (PPS), 35% of Base salary plus on-call, pro rata of additional payment will be paid from the PPS.
If not admitted to the PPS, a 35% in lieu of PPS of base salary will be paid.

Details of Appointment
Fixed term part-time (0.2FTE) day work (with on-call), working 15.2 hours per fortnight commencing as soon as possible until 14 July ****.
