We are looking for a motivated and skilled Range Leading Hand. You'll play a key role in managing Defence training areas and ranges, ensuring safety and efficiency in a technically complex environment. Working as part of the Training Area and Range Management (TARM) team, you'll liaise with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality services under the Defence EMOS contract. This is a hands-on role that requires professionalism, attention to detail, and a commitment to exemplary customer service.
Key Responsibilities
1. Participate and deliver Range Services Daily Briefings
2. Undertake roles of the TARM Supervisor in their absence
3. Lead a team of up to 5 staff (Leading Hand allowance)
4. Use of Range Communications
5. Work in Remote Locations
6. Work with Target Systems
7. Support Army Exercises
8. Work in a small team environment
9. Lifting and manual handling
10. Use Defence Computer or Paper-Based Systems to read and advise on customer booking enquiries
11. Facilitate movement onto and off the Range area
12. Conduct Range maintenance as allocated
13. Be a member of the Fire Response Team
About You
1. Suitability for Defence security clearance (Australian citizenship mandatory)
2. Intermediate literacy and computer skills
3. Current MR (or higher) Australian Drivers Licence
4. Capability to attain a workplace first aid qualification to National Certificate Level 2 standard
5. Capability to attain current operator licences for all Range vehicles and equipment
6. Capability to attain Fire Qualifications in Wildfire Response and Suppression
7. Strong work ethic, safety focus, quality of work, and excellent customer service skills
8. Previous experience in the Defence environment is highly regarded
