The ICT Business Analyst supports the analysis, management and delivery activities required to implement business improvement initiatives and projects within the department.
About the Role / Role Requirements
* Identify and document business functions and processes.
* Develop, investigate, analyse, validate and review business functions.
* Analyse and identify business process changes that drive efficiency and effectiveness.
* Contribute to evaluating factors that form part of business change requirements.
* Document requirements within a standard format or requirements management tool/s.
* Work with business clients to identify potential solutions, conduct feasibility studies and business cases to justify an investment in change.
* Liaise with stakeholders in order to understand the structure, policies and operations of - -
* Recommend technology solutions that assist in achieving agency outcomes.
* Elicit and document business requirements using a variety of business analysis techniques.
* Interpret business needs and translate those into functional and non-functional requirements and software specifications where necessary.
* Ensure business requirements are communicated to both software development and test teams.
* Work with technical staff and act as a conduit between business customers and technical staff to define /refine requirements and develop solutions.
* Provide business support to technical staff in development of urgent technical solutions.
* Contribute to the identification and mitigation of risks as they arise.
* Utilise broad ICT knowledge and knowledge of the business to identify effective technology solutions that address business needs.
* Working directly with ICT staff to trace business requirements through to test plans and cases, reducing time to fix issues and identify anomalies.
* Provide estimates of requirement development to contribute to successful planning of the Program of Work
* Ensure stakeholders understand available ICT services and promote financial awareness with a view to delivering value for money.
* Develop strong relationships with business and technical staff on the requirements that inform ICT solution design.
* Negotiate effectively with customers to identify needs and business solutions.
* Facilitate workshops to clarify and negotiate business outcomes.
* Liaise with staff within the division, across agency and inter-agency
* Establish and maintain collaborative networks with business and other stakeholders
* Respond to changes in customer needs and expectations.
* Ensure timely and appropriate responses to system issues reported by staff
* Maintain a professional customer focus
* Business Analyst experience in an IT environment with strong skills in the development of requirements and specifications according to standards;
* Cost benefit analysis
* Analytical thinking and problem solving
* Sound written communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex system and process concepts and creativity in communication.
* Ability to cultivate productive working relationships and communicate with influence;
* Facilitation and elicitation skills to lead business in definition of desired outcomes and business processes and requirements
* Ability to work both individually with minimum supervision and also within a team environment;
* Understanding of broader business issues, structures and operations;
* Understanding of governance frameworks;
* Knowledge of software development life cycle;
* Experience of Agile delivery practices using DevOps or similar;
* Knowledge of risk management frameworks and experience in applying to an ICT environment;
* Experience in an ICT operational environment
Further details:
8 Hours/day - 40 Hour working week.
