Currently seeking Community & Peer Worker to join mental health team in Townsville.
This role is ideal for someone with lived experience of military service or military family life who is motivated to walk alongside others and promote hope, recovery and community connection.
The Opportunity
In this role, you will provide strengths-based, recovery-oriented peer support to individuals and families experiencing mental health challenges. You will work within a multidisciplinary team environment and contribute to a trauma-informed model of care.
Key responsibilities include:
* Delivering personalised peer support aligned to recovery principles
* Collaboratively identifying client goals and developing tailored action plans
* Supporting clients to navigate community services such as counselling, housing and support networks
* Participating in case discussions within a multidisciplinary team
* Building and maintaining networks with local community organisations and stakeholders
* Promoting awareness of available support services
* Maintaining accurate, timely and confidential documentation
About You
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
* Lived experience of military service or military family life
* A personal lived experience of mental health recovery (or as a carer/family member)
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* High emotional intelligence, integrity and professionalism
* Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
* Experience in peer support, mentoring, coaching or the mental health sector (desirable)
* Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work (or willingness to obtain) highly regarded
Mandatory Requirements
* Working With Children and/or Vulnerable People Check
* Ability to obtain and maintain Baseline security clearance
