Job Description
Reporting to the Mechanical Superintendent – Processing & Fabrication you will oversee weekly, long term, and shutdown maintenance planning, ensuring work aligns with Harmony's Asset Management standards. With strong technical and troubleshooting skills, you will help maintain critical equipment, reduce downtime, and drive continuous improvement across maintenance processes. Responsibilities also include cost monitoring and providing guidance and development support to planning team staff. This role will be offered as a FIFO opportunity from/to Australia working on a 16/12-day roster.
Responsibilities
* Establish and maintain standards and policies for the Fixed Plant Maintenance Department.
* Plan and implement solutions from the Harmony Gold Asset Management Framework.
* Assist with the implementation of management initiatives and ensure appropriate alignment with strategy and the requirements of other departments and stakeholders.
* Active participation in identifying and reporting potential safety and environmental hazards. Liaise with Health, Safety, Environmental and Community Relations staff regarding issues, incidents or non-compliance within the area of your responsibility.
* Support compliance with the Safety and Environmental Management Plan and the company's community relations policies.
* Investigate and trial new ideas, methods and technology, to ensure continuous improvement throughout the Department.
* Participate in decision making, whilst being empowered to make decisions on issues within their competency.
* Monitor decision quality, checking for adherence to policies and standards, and coaching and mentoring for improvement.
* Participate in product and process improvement initiatives.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, and procurement.
* Support maintenance management activities such as scheduling, reporting, and cost estimation.
* Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with company and regulatory requirements. Perform preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance on equipment and systems.
* Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
* Respond to maintenance requests and emergency repairs in a timely manner.
* Conduct routine inspections to identify potential issues and safety hazards.
* Install, modify, and upgrade equipment as needed.
* Ensure compliance with safety regulations, codes, and company policies.
* Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized repairs or services.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives related to reliability and efficiency.
* Assist with inventory management of tools, parts, and supplies.
Qualifications
* High school diploma or equivalent (technical certification or associate degree preferred).
* Years of experience in industrial, facilities, or equipment maintenance.
* Strong working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
* Ability to read schematics, manuals, and technical drawings.
* Proficiency with hand and power tools and diagnostic equipment.
* Basic computer skills for maintenance tracking systems.
* Ability to work flexible hours, including on-call or shift work if required.
* Trade certification or journeyman license (electrical, HVAC, mechanical, etc.).
* Experience with PLCs, automation, or control systems.
* Knowledge of HSE and safety standards.
* Experience in ore processing facilities.

About The Team
Harmony is the largest gold producer by volume in South Africa and is a significant operator of gold tailings retreatment facilities.
