We are currently looking for a Commercial Manager to work for a Top 5 UK Civil Engineering Main Contractor. The role will be based in North London, working on projects up to the value of £440m for clients including Network Rail, involving Bridges, Major Station Upgrades, and Earthworks.
Roles & Responsibilities:
1. Provide assistance, support, and guidance on all commercial issues within the project(s).
2. Prepare internal Cost/Value Reports monthly to support the Commercial Manager / Managing Quantity Surveyor and other required reports.
3. Prepare Valuations/Applications for Payment monthly with full supporting documentation, in line with the contract.
4. Prepare Cost Reports for the client monthly with full documentation.
5. Calculate earned value and project outturn costs monthly.
6. Manage subcontract and material Procurement Schedules.
7. Administer subcontractor/supplier accounts, from requisitions to final account agreements.
8. Manage Early Warning Notices and registers.
9. Negotiate and agree on Compensation Events/variations and extension of time claims.
10. Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities, and conduct value engineering exercises.
11. Promote contractual awareness within the site team and ensure contractual entitlements are achieved through proper record-keeping and change management.
12. Utilize MAXcel costing system for cost control and reporting; ensure staff are trained accordingly.
13. Follow all procedures strictly by the commercial team.
14. Establish and maintain site records for labour, plant, materials, etc., to support cost substantiation.
15. Implement a cost allocation/coding system compliant with internal and external standards and ensure adherence by the site team.
16. Participate in internal and external financial meetings as required.
17. Prepare project final accounts.
Essential Requirements:
Minimum of 7 years experience in a commercial role on civil engineering projects in the UK, with either a subcontractor or main contractor.
Preferred Qualifications:
Degree/HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management.
NEC 3 Awareness.
