Permanent Full Time opportunity available (9 day fortnight, ***** hours/week).
Tertiary or postgraduate qualifications in Emergency Management, Public Safety, Humanitarian Assistance, or Recovery.
LGO 6 ($93,992 - $100,333 per annum + superannuation) based on skills, qualifications and experience.

About the Role
We're looking for someone to help make our community safer and stronger during disasters.
In this role, you'll work with others to plan and run programs that prepare people for emergencies, especially those most at risk.
You'll lead workshops, support recovery efforts, and help improve how we respond to disasters.
You'll also work with local teams and community members to understand their needs and make sure our plans are effective and inclusive.
This role is responsible for developing and implementing strategic community projects and programs that enhance public awareness and strengthen disaster resilience across Council and the broader community.
This role provides strategic direction for disaster recovery operations and works collaboratively with key stakeholders to ensure coordinated, effective, and sustainable recovery and resilience outcomes.
You will be required to make yourself available to work outside standard business hours and across various locations within the Townsville region, including participation in on-call rosters during emergency events.
About You
Tertiary or postgraduate qualifications in Emergency Management, Public Safety, Humanitarian Assistance, or Recovery, or significant experience in emergency management or operations within government, non-government, or private sector environments.
Highly developed leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, with proven experience leading project teams or resources in a cooperative and supportive work environment.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a high-performing team, with a strong focus on achieving outcomes and building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Proven project management skills, including the ability to plan, coordinate, and deliver complex projects and manage resources effectively to meet deadlines and strategic objectives.
Experience in managing diverse stakeholder relationships and responding constructively to operational challenges in dynamic environments.
Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare complex reports, action plans, policies, procedures, and strategic documents.
Deep understanding of local, state, and national emergency management frameworks, including legislative and policy requirements relevant to disaster recovery and resilience.
Demonstrated experience in disaster management and community planning, with a proven ability to effectively plan and manage responses to crises and natural disasters.
Current Queensland "C" class open driver's license.
Current Blue Card (or eligibility to obtain one) for working in child-related environments.
