HCi is Tasmania's oldest private health insurer, with a long profit-for-members history of success over more than 85 years. We're currently looking for an experienced Accountant to play a key role in supporting HCi's financial operations and risk management reporting. You will report to the Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) Manager and your role will focus on driving our financial operations and supporting the risk management functions of HCi. Key Responsibilities
Monthly accounting, cash-flow and budget management/forecasting, attendance to variance analysis, banking, investment and treasury functions as well as associated reporting
Preparation of statutory reporting, including APRA reporting requirements, and tax compliance requirements (GST, FBT etc)
Management of accounts payable/receivable functions, as well as bank, fixed asset and general ledger reconciliations
Manage and deliver requirements for the annual audit, including the preparation of annual financial statements and reports for auditors and the HCi Board
Coordinate the timely and accurate processing of HCi's payroll and superannuation payments
Analysing business performance and contributing to strategies that will improve business and financial performance
Other financial and risk reporting as required by Management or the Board
Assisting with the administration and maintenance of risk management systems and electronic registers
Identify and drive process improvements to enable a highly responsive and efficient finance function.
Qualifications and Experience
Relevant financial accounting qualifications and a minimum 3 years' experience working in a similar role
Strong analytical ability
Accomplished MYOB and Microsoft Excel skills
Ability to work constructively with a small team and communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders
A proactive and collaborative approach, with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
Highly organised with the ability to manage a challenging and varied workload
High attention to detail and accuracy
Experience in the profit-for-members and/or private health insurance sectors would be an advantage.
